Acrostic Poetry

It is the year that I am truly challenging myself. This time it’s with acrostic poetry – definitely not my forte, but it was fun to give it a go!

Acrostic poetry is a form of verse where the initial letters of each line, when read vertically, spell out a word or message. The theme or subject of the poem often revolves around the word spelled out by the initial letters. Each line typically relates to the overall topic or theme and contributes to the meaning of the poem as a whole. Acrostic poems can vary in length and complexity, and they offer a creative way to convey thoughts, feelings, or ideas while adding an additional layer of depth through the hidden message formed by the initial letters.

Eclipse: A Poem

Ethereal darkness, a spectacle in the sky

Celestial dance, nature’s song

Light obscured, beauty beyond compare

Intertwined shadows casting a luminous glow

Partial darkness, a moment of peace

Sun and moon embrace, the world is in their grip

Enchanting show, over too soon.
